n1ABSTRACT: The research is conceived as a content analysis of the popular science journal "Galaksija" (issues published during 1983 and early 1984). The aim is to determine, at the content level, how computers, robots, and the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) are portrayed in the materials published by this journal.n1SAŽETAK: Istraživanje je koncipirano kao analiza sadržaja naučnopopularnog časopisa Galaksija (brojeva koji su izlazili tokom 1983. i početkom 1984. godine) sa ciljem da se utvrdi kako se u određenim tekstovima prikazuju računar, robot i sam koncept veštačke inteligencije (AI – Artificial Intelligence),
n2 Additionally, the study explores to what extent such writings contributed to the success of the Galaksija computer, the first Yugoslav computer intended for mass use.n2 kao i u kojoj meri je takvo pisanje doprinelo velikom uspehu računara „galaksija“, prvog jugoslovenskog računara namenjenog širokoj upotrebi.
n3Through the analysis, it becomes clear how an active approach to problem-solving and the encouragement of creative work and thinking can be promoted, especially in moments when the state imposes objective constraints.n3 U radu se ističe da se rešavanju problema pristupilo na kreativan i dovitljiv način u trenucima kada su postojala objektivna ograničenja koja je nametnula država.
n4KEYWORDS: galaksija, computer, artificial intelligence, content analysis.n4KLjUČNE REČI: galaksija, računar, veštačka inteligencija, analiza sadržaja.
n5Galaksija was the first microcomputer in the territory of SFR Yugoslavia accessible to all the enthusiasts in the period when computers were intensively developed and brought closer to end users, both in the world and in the areas of the former SFRY.n5Mikroračunar „galaksija“ je prvi domaći računar dostupan najširem krugu obožavalaca u periodu intenzivnog razvoja računara i njihovog približavanja krajnjim korisnicima, kako u svetu, tako i na prostorima bivše SFRJ.
n6 It is important to understand that the import of computers into the former Yugoslavia was not allowed in 1983, thus computer and technology enthusiasts couldn’t import the object of their admiration legally.n6 Važno je razumeti da tokom 1983. godine uvoz računara u tadašnju Jugoslaviju bio zabranjen, te je ljubiteljima računara i tehnike bilo nemoguće da dođu do željenog predmeta uvozom na legalan način.
n7 To protect domestic production from foreign competition, strict import rules were introduced in the SFRY, which made the development of computers in the country different from the development in the Western world (restrictions did not apply only to the import of computers).n7 Sa ciljem da se domaća proizvodnja zaštiti od strane konkurencije, u SFRJ su uvedena stroga carinska pravila za uvoz elektronske opreme, što se odrazilo i na računare.
n8The government tried to control the influx of foreign home computers by imposing import restrictions on price and memory size.n8Vlada je pokušala da kontroliše priliv stranih kućnih računara uvodeći uvozna ograničenja po pitanju cena i veličine memorije.
n9 As the passion was stronger than the restrictions, the people were resourceful – they continued to import computers piece by piece and assemble them without violating the applicable rules and regulations.n9 Kako je želja bila jača od ograničenja, ljudi su se dosetili da unose i uvoze deo po deo računara i sastavljaju ga ne kršeći tako važeća pravila i propise.
